Guests are not eligible for prizes

Communications

E-mails about League events and activities will be sent to all members having access to the Internet

Telephone calls will be made to those without internet access

A phone tree will be established and used on questionable weather days

Hole-In-One-Insurance

To participate in the League's season-long hole-in-one competition, pay $2.00 to the League's Treasurer

This fund is distributed when a player makes a hole-in-one on a home course play day

Handicaps and Handicap Strokes

All members must have a posted handicap to compete in play day events

New members must have ten (10) 9-hole scores in the computer to have a temporary handicap issued by the Magnolia Point Pro Shop in order to compete in play day events

For play day events, golfers will adjust their scores to their maximum allowed score per hole based on their handicap, as defined in the next section

Handicap Adjusting Procedures

The USGA's Guidelines on Handicaps provide for adjustments to scores as follows:

If your handicap is 10-19, your maximum score per hole is 7

If your handicap is 20-29, your maximum score is 8

If your handicap is 30-39, your maximum score is 9

If your handicap is 40 or more, your maximum score is 10

Chip-In Contest

To participate in the Thursday play day chip-in contest, players must put 50 cents in the chip-in container before play

A chip-in occurs when the ball goes in the hole from anywhere off the putting surface; that is, from the fringe area and beyond, with any club

All players with chip-ins that day qualify to share the chip-in pot

Ringer Tournament, Including Birdies

The Ringer Tournament is a season-long event in which your best score on each individual hole is recorded.  The goal is to continually improve your best scores as the season progresses

Your ringer score will be maintained by the Ringer Chairman from your play day scorecards.  Progress will be reported monthly

If you score a birdie, then circle that score on your scorecard and, as a courtesy, notify the Ringer Chairman that you scored a birdie that day

A Birdie pin is awarded for your first birdie of the season

On our home course, ringer and birdies count only on play days

On away courses, birdies count on play days (but ringers do not)

Nine-Hole League Championship

This tournament will be held on three Thursdays during the season using alternate nines

Participants must have played in 50% of the play days to quality to compete in the Championship

Players must hole out on every hole; for the championship there is no limit on the number of strokes per hole

The Nine-Hole League Champion will be the low gross winner of the three Thursdays

The Runner-up will be the low net winner of the three Thursdays

The Champion and Runner-up will be announced at the May general meeting

Nine-Hole League Jack and Jill Tournament

This mixed event includes ladies of the Nine-Hole League paired with invited men golfers

The Jack and Jill Tournament Chairman determines the tournament entry procedures and format of play

For the 2011 event, members will be allowed to specify their partner (spouse or guest)

The tournament is followed by a luncheon and the awarding of prizes

Most Improved Player

The League awards a prize to the Most Improved Player during the season based on the improvement in her handicap index from September 1 to May 1

The prize is awarded at the May meeting
