MPLGA GENERAL MEETING
MAY 19, 2011
The meeting was called to order by President Kathie Cardon at 1:48 p.m. following golf and the closing day lunch. The previous minutes were unanimously accepted as published by motion of Cary Hanley and second by Phyllis Boyd. Joanne Montzka, Treasurer, was not present but her current financial statement was available for members to study. (attached) There are currently 37 paid members.
Under old business, there was some discussion about changes to the bylaws. Jeanne Gorman brought up the idea of having the Tournament Chairman having specific duties that would be specified and that her helper would be a Ladies Day Chairman, who would run the weekly tournaments but have no board voting membership. There was a lot of discussion before it came to a vote. The vote to NOT change things as described by Jeanne Gorman was called by Cary Hanley and seconded by Helen Hardbower. The motion was defeated. There will not be a new position added. The solution will be to allow the tournament chairman to select her helpers for routine play days and/or tournaments, which has always be the case. Cary Hanley and Carolyn Hickman motioned and seconded that the rest of the small wording changes worked on by the bylaw committee be accepted and the group voted to accept the motion.
It was decided to form a special procedures committee for next year to bring some standardization to a few events held by the MPLGA. It is expected to be a one-time committee. The members on the committee are: Out-going president Kathie Cardon, President Anne Murphy, Vice-president Jeanne Gorman, Carolyn Hickman, Dolores Forslund, and Kathy Friddle,
Merry Massey reminded the golfers to let her know of any email changes.
Iris McDivitt thanked the MPLGA for the concern they showed her during her surgery and recovery.
Jeanne Wood presented the yearly “birdie” results and read the list of birdie gals. There were a total of 87 birdies this year made by 31 different players. The hole with the most birdies was Blue-5.
